Plein Air/Outdoor Painting Watercolor Workshop
Coastal Brittany, France
September 15 to 22, 2018
Along the Rance River, which meets the sea at the nearby famous port of St Malo, we’ll settle into the village of Saint Suliac. Would you like to join us? It is a serene and beautiful location!
We will be settling into houses along a street in the town, a short walk to everything. We can rent bicycles, paint in the village square, stroll along the river, it will be a relaxing time. We will share houses, autos….definitely good times and hearty meals!
Annick and John Gromek are helping with the French details which helps! My French is not up to par! Is yours? Come join me if you’d like this painting adventure! contact Doris for information.
Most days, we will set up and work in a local spot.…selecting subjects and scenes that feel personal to you. Doris will do a demo to start the watercolor flowing and then everyone will paint together with guidance on materials, subject selection, composition, values….. When we work indoors, we will have specific lessons on technique and ‘how to’.
A critique or evaluation will be held most afternoons to check progress and look for improvements on your personal style. Everyone is a beginner when it comes to painting! Don’t be shy! It is an enriching experience.
A trip to Normandy to the DDay beaches is a close by destination. If you arrive ahead, or stay after the workshop, you could tour the museums, American cemetery, and monuments, staying overnight nearby on your own. As a group/workshop we will see Mont St Michele, the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site in the great tidal bay. More day trips are possible for our group.
Painting Adventure Costs:
Workshop fee: 5 days instruction with critique: $400.00…or $85 per day. Companion fee for non painters $200.00
