Star Island Watercolor Adventure

September 7 to 11, 2020, Monday through Friday.

You are invited to join me for 5 days on Star Island, Isles of Shoals for a unique watercolor experience. We will be following in the footsteps of other artists who have, for the past century, been inspired by the rugged beauty of this New England Island. Rocks and sea meet here to take us back in time. Life is more simple, just a short ferry boat ride from the Portsmouth dock, but a world away!

Classes will be held indoors,  studio time, and outside, plein air.

Experience in painting brings discovery of your own style. You’ll work with skill development and build confidence with watercolor as a medium. The community setting, working in a group atmosphere provides supportive feedback…a chance to learn and grow!

Workshop participants travel out to Star Island on Monday 9/7, travel details will be sent upon registration. We’ll settle in with an island orientation, then move right along to exploring and sketching the first day. Tuesday through Thursday there will be painting demonstrations each morning, personal painting time, gathering afternoons for an evaluation of the day’s work. Friday 9/11 is departure day, but we can still work with small works and sketchbooks….bags will have been packed for the boat ride home.

Bring your own painting supplies. There is a general supply list on the web site. Email Doris with questions.

Our days and evenings will be filled with painting and more! We’ll have a lecture by Ann Beattie, scholar,  on Arts on the Shoals, other community activities involving other conferences and perhaps ongoing programs. There is so much to do and see, you’ll love your time here!

Workshop fee is $320. Star Island will give accommodation options, which will include all meals and transportation. Parking fee on the dock is extra. Sign up via Star Island. ….under Programs/Arts and Music.
