Accommodations:
Out of town students should secure own lodgings. Look on line for recommendations for: Inn/Hotel/Guest House accommodations. Suggestions: Coronado Inn (or more reasonable at the sister hotel across the street: Coronado Island Inn). Also Crown City Motel is a nice cozy place, often with bicycles to use. It makes getting around easy; Coronado is fun to explore on bike or foot. The 1906 Lodge is a well located B&B in Coronado Center, offering lovely rooms and amenities. Friendly and convenient. All recommended…..and there are certainly many more!
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Class will run 4 days approximately 5-6 hours each day. Possible extra session on Friday 4/25.
First day: In the morning, we’ll gather at announced location in Coronado. Each day we will meet at a different location for the day’s painting session. Doris will demonstrate in watercolor daily, with a particular subject or theme as the focus. We’ll work with techniques, composition and lighting. Achieving mastery over watercolor is a process of repetition and awareness. It is magic how easily it comes together!
Generally, Mid-day and on to late afternoon, it’ll be paint, paint, and talk about paint! And lunch break in there too. Feel free to brown bag it or to pickup a lunch near our painting location. We try to work outside, en plein air, unless it becomes too windy or wet. Studio work on techniques will be indoors in case of an inclement day.
At the end of the day, we’ll have an evaluation of each painter’s effort with attention focused on the elements of painting as well as individual style. The ‘crit’ is always informative and helpful to your own personal artistic development. It is a ‘Plus-plus’.
Advanced experience is not required…we are all in the same creative boat! There is no time like the present to learn and to expand your personal touch!
